I LIVE IN A 100 M² HOUSE: HERE’S MY GAS BILL IN 2025

📈 RISING GAS PRICES

The Energy Regulation Commission (CRE) announced a new gas price increase of 2.25% starting April 1, 2025. This will impact the budgets of over 10 million households.

Each month, CRE sets a benchmark price calculated based on several factors. While suppliers do not apply this price directly, they use it as a reference. When the benchmark rises, supplier prices follow.

🧩 HOW IS YOUR GAS BILL CALCULATED?

To understand how much you’ll pay for gas, several factors must be considered:
• Type of contract (fixed or indexed)
• Usage (heating, hot water, cooking)
• Location (different pricing zones)
• Subscription fee
• Price per kWh
• Taxes

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 EXAMPLE 1: THE DUPONT FAMILY (MOULINS-SUR-ALLIER)

This family lives in a house where everything runs on gas: heating, water heater, and stove. Their annual consumption is around 14,000 kWh.

Contract: EDF Avantage Gaz, 2-year fixed price at €0.1075/kWh (zone 2).
Subscription fee: €21.57/month excluding VAT. From August 1, 2025, VAT will rise from 5.5% to 20%.
Total: Around €1,900/year, including VAT increase and other taxes.

🌴 EXAMPLE 2: THE RODRIGUEZ FAMILY (PERPIGNAN)

They use gas only for cooking and hot water.
Annual consumption: 3,000 kWh.

Price per kWh: €0.1378 (zone 3).
Subscription fee: €9.42/month excluding VAT. VAT will also increase in August.
Total: About €500/year.

🌧 EXAMPLE 3: THE LEFEVRE FAMILY (ROUEN)

They have a Gaz Adapt contract with Engie for 1 year with an indexed rate. The price changes monthly based on market conditions.

Estimated expenses:
• Full usage (heating, water heater, stove): Around €1,800/year.
• Only water heater and stove: Around €400/year.
